Join the Best Herb Class There Is!
Alternative Wellness Center sponsors a six month Herbal Certification Course, written and taught by world-renowned Herbalist and published author, K.P. Khalsa. You won’t find an herb class with a higher curriculum or teachers than this one! This is a wonderful and informative Herbal Certification Course wherein classes are held one weekend per month, Saturdays and Sundays only – perfect for those who work, go to school, or just lead busy lives!
This course is for individuals who want to understand their body better, as well as individuals who want to become Professional Clinical Herbalists. We have students from all walks of life – massage therapists, housewives, chiropractors, dentists, grandfathers and computer operators. The ages of our students vary from those who are in their teens to seniors! This course includes Chinese, Ayurvedic, Western, Native American and European applications, anatomy and physiology, along with discussion of body systems.
Diseases relating to each body system are discussed with recommendations and protocols for treatment. Information is given on healing with food, homeopathics, essential oils, treating the young and elderly, skin/topical therapies, case management, and integrative healing. Even with all that information, this class is very comfortable and enjoyable! It includes 1-2 herb walks at the Petroglyphs and/or the Sandia Mountains, where students learn about the plants in their living state and about wild crafting and harvesting. Some “hands-on” demonstrations will be done in class to show students how to make tinctures and other preparations. There are three modules to the class, with one test at the end of each module. All tests are take home and open book, the same format that the American Herbalists Guild processes their entrance exams.
State credentialing of Herbalists is expected to occur in the very near future. When this happens, typically states will offer a “grandfathering” period during which already qualified practitioners
may possibly be licensed without additional lengthy schooling requirements!
This course is written and taught by K.P. Khalsa, class director for Herbalist College, a division of the International Integrative Educational Institute. K.P. Khalsa has sat on the Board of the American Herbalists Guild for many years and has been a Clinical Herbalist for decades. He has participated in the authoring or editing of over 22 books, including “Herbal Defense” and “Body Balance.”
In addition to K.P. Khalsa, who teaches several of our classes himself, the rest of our teaching staff are all Certified Practicing Clinical Herbalists. Janet L. Hall of Alternative Wellness Center works with those experiencing severe illness or disease, so she teaches our immune system weekend. One of our weekend classes focuses on Chinese herbs, so we have our Chinese Medicine Specialist, Dave Shelden, available for that session. Kristi Noren is our reproductive, pregnancy and childbirth teacher. There will be additional teachers who will join us to present specialized information throughout the course. Our teachers are very good at explaining each body system and all diseases that relate to them, along with recommendations and protocols for each.
With the credentials of a Certified Herbalist, there are many ways to earn a living. You can consult privately or in a clinic, work in the dietary or supplement industry, health food stores, or go into teaching, writing, speaking or education, to name just a few careers.
